Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting 12/16

The official grand opening and ribbon cutting of BKS Artisan Ales will be on Saturday 12/16 starting at 12:30. Here is the schedule of events for the day:

12:30pm – Ribbon cutting: Councilman Scott Taylor and representatives from various Kansas City chambers of commerce will be in attendance for the ribbon cutting celebration from 12:30 to 1pm. In 2015, Councilman Taylor, with assistance from Brian and Mary Rooney, helped pass a city ordinance that permits small, neighborhood breweries to operate in business districts instead of industrial zoned districts. Without Councilman Taylor’s help, it would not be possible for us to have our brewery in the Brookside neighborhood.

1:00pm – Pine Tree IPA Batch 2 Can Release: We are releasing 16oz cans of our 2nd batch of Pine Tree IPA at 1pm. This batch of Pine Tree will be slightly different than the one we released in November on Black Friday. Just like our last release of Pine Tree IPA, Chinook hops are the star of the show for this Northeast style IPA. For batch 2, in addition to the piney resin notes from the Chinook hops, we folded in hints of orange and grapefruit to the aroma/flavor profile via generous dry hop additions of Citra and Simcoe hops. Watch for additional updates on Friday via our Facebook page for additional details regarding the can release.

1:00pm to 5:00pm – Tasting Room Hours: Our tasting room will be open from 1 to 5pm. Visit our Tasting Room page for Saturday’s tap list.

Food: Our neighbor across the hallway in our building, canihaveabite, will have street tacos available for purchase at their location, and we will have Pretzel Boys delicious pretzels in our tasting room. View canihaveabite’s Saturday menu here.

About BKS Artisan Ales

“BKS” is the well-known abbreviation for Kansas City’s Brookside neighborhood. BKS Artisan Ales is the first craft brewery in the Brookside neighborhood. BKS Artisan Ales draws on traditional and experimental styles to produce barrel aged, sour, hop-forward, and farmhouse ales. With small batch production and limited output, the tasting room hours of operation are currently every Saturday, with other dates determined as needed. In addition to draft pours at the tasting room, limited bottled and canned beers are available, to-go, from the tasting room as production allows. Visit our FAQ’s page for more details.
