News Release: BKS Artisan Ales Coming To Brookside East

Kansas City, MO, October 30, 2016 – BKS Artisan Ales will be opening in early 2017 as the first craft brewery in Kansas City’s Brookside neighborhood. Containing the well-known abbreviation for the neighborhood, BKS, the brewery will be located at 633 E. 63rd Street, on the corner of 63rd Street and Holmes Street. The location will house a production facility and tasting room that aims to provide local residents with quality, unique beers.

The brewery will be a part-time endeavor by the owners, Brian and Mary Rooney, who are residents of the Brookside neighborhood. Brian has been an award winning home-brewer for 7 years. In 2015, with the assistance of Councilman Scott Taylor, Brian and Mary helped pass a city ordinance that allows small, neighborhood breweries to operate in Kansas City, MO business districts instead of industrial zoned districts.

BKS Artisan Ales will draw on traditional and experimental styles to produce barrel aged, sour, hop-forward, and farmhouse ales. With small batch production and limited output, the tasting room hours of operation will initially be one Saturday per month, with other dates determined as needed. In addition to draft pours at the tasting room, limited production bottled beers will be available, to-go, from the tasting room on a published release schedule.

The operational hours, grand opening details, and beer release schedules will be shared on the BKS website and social media pages, as well as pushed out via email to those that have subscribed to the website email list.
